Tea and Chi
When we begin to explore the energetic nature of tea, we enter into the invisible realms, where felt experience and intuition can aid our understanding.
Everything around us is energy and in constant motion,
To set the scene as to how this concept came to be integrated into our tea work, we need to go back to 2006, and the beginnings of ATTIC Teas. We opened a tea shop in Bristol, focusing on these 5 teas from China that we still work with today. We championed them for their well-documented health benefits but around the same time and seemingly completely unrelated, we were interested in a piece of research* that was analysing the basic nature of human thought and consciousness itself.
The research was based on this underlying idea that everything is a vibrating energy system and the higher the frequency being expressed, the more healthful and positive the emotions are we are experiencing. In brief, the research established a scale of 0-1000, an intriguing map of consciousness, matching our specific human emotional states to the particular frequency we were resonating at when feeling them. The findings showed that our primal emotions were low resonance, shame being the lowest at 20 on the scale, fear at 100, anger at 150. But as we raise our frequency above 200, which is the vibration for courage, we start to experience more empowering emotions such as acceptance, reason, joy and love.
An interesting phenomenon occurs when different vibrating systems come into contact with each other, they often ‘sync up’, vibrating together at the same frequency. We experience this on a daily basis by how other people make us feel depending on their mood. As every system has the power to influence any other system in this way, it seemed logical for us to have the vibrational frequency of these 5 Chinese teas we were championing measured,
